Classes

Structure: General classes include a warm up period which includes: meditation, stretching and aikido exercises followed by a time period of 3 to 6 techniques and concluding with randori. Ki training is incorporated during the entire class. Class structure may change from the general class structure depending on the instructional theme presented.

Times: Classes are held on Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and Sunday 8:15 to 9:30 AM (Dojo Doors open at 7:50 AM). Students should arrive in time before class to change and be ready to bow in by start time.

Ages: Classes are open to youth over age 14 and adult men and women. There are no classes for young children at this time.

Trial Workout: Prospective students are offered a trial class to see if Aikido of Connecticut is the right fit for them. The acceptance of new students is based on the students is ability to participate in all aspects of class and acceptance by the Sensei.

Promotion and Ranking: Promotions are based on a process of continual evaluation of students by Sensei Brian Putkonen and Sensei Jon Guglietta. They follow a multifaceted approach to promotions, which involves competency of form and level of Ki in the execution of techniques. Promotions are awarded in an ongoing basis. No official testing is done as they work out directly with all their students and are in effect constantly evaluating their progress.
